OVERVIEW

This course is designed for clinicians who are already familiar with the foundations of DBT (e.g., biosocial theory, structural strategies and core strategies). This course supports those wanting to acquire a more in-depth understanding in the practice of DBT. Topics to be covered include: An introduction to DBT case formulation; in-depth chain analysis; targeting and analyzing specific problems; targeting in-session problematic behaviours; strengthening validation strategies; and dialectical strategies for decreasing polarization. This course helps clinicians learn DBT strategies that can be applied within the context of a full program or integrated into other psychotherapeutic approaches. This training is specifically helpful for clinicians conducting individual therapy and/or group skills training with individuals who meet criteria for multiple disorders.
