The School of Continuing Studies is proud to partner with the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work (FIFSW) to offer industry leading continuing education courses in human services. This partnership brings together our globally recognized leadership in continuing education and the world-renowned academic leadership of the Faculty. Participants in this program will gain familiarity with the fundamental principles and strategies of DBT for treating multi-disordered individuals. Participants will learn how to maintain compassion towards clients and decrease their burnout. As well, they will learn how to balance acceptance and a focus on change when addressing challenging client situations. Participants will be introduced to DBT’s core skills modules: Emotion Regulation; Mindfulness; Distress Tolerance; and Interpersonal Effectiveness. Obstacles to applying various strategies will be explored. A combination of lecture, videotapes, role-plays and Q+A will be used to provide participants with a practical and highly experiential learning environment.
