Dr. Sarah Royal is a Clinical Psychologist who received her MA and PhD at Ryerson University and trained in several institutions, including the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health and University Health Network. She currently works part-time in the Bariatric Surgery Program at Toronto Western Hospital. Sarah has previously worked as a Clinical Psychologist in the Eating Disorder Program at Toronto General Hospital and the Borderline Personality Disorder Service at St Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton. Sarah is an established researcher who has published in the areas of eating disorders, obesity, and bariatric surgery. She provides assessment and treatment to individuals who have difficulty regulating their emotions and those who experience eating disorders, anxiety, depression, impulsive behaviours, and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Sarah has extensive training and experience in providing Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD. She is also a qualified facilitator of Mindfulness-Based Eating Awareness Training. Sarah takes a warm, non-judgmental, and active approach to treatment and collaborates with clients to explore their life experience and meet their goals.
