Project Description

Shelley Kavanagh is a Registered Psychotherapist with over 20 years experience working with young people struggling with emotional and behavioural dysregulation. As a consultant with the Toronto District School Board, The Child and Youth Advocacy Centre and numerous community-based agencies, Shelley works with adolescents who have experienced trauma, are engaged in self-harming behaviours and have difficulties managing their anger outbursts.

As a faculty member at Humber College and The Toronto Art Therapy Institute, Shelley teaches creative therapeutic interventions. Her own clinical practice includes multiple modalities that support the development of a strong alliance with adolescent clients and integrate Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, DBT Skills Training and mindfulness practices into treatment.
