Project Description

Dr. Sarah Royal is a Psychologist in the Eating Disorder Program and the Bariatric Surgery Program at University Health Network.  She received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Ryerson University and completed her pre-doctoral training at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) in the Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) Clinic and the Work, Stress, and Health/Psychological Trauma Program.  Sarah was previously a Psychologist in the BPD Service at St Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton.

Dr. Royal has conducted research in the areas of eating disorders, obesity and bariatric surgery, borderline personality disorder, and trauma.  She has presented extensively at local, national, and international conferences and has numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Sarah provides assessment and treatment to individuals experiencing difficulty regulating their emotions, eating disorders, anxiety, depression, and trauma. She has received extensive training and supervision in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), including Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for trauma.
